Legacy to Future Fund
The Legacy to Future Funds (LFF) is an initiative to recognise the impact of the slavery past and to invest in a future where heritage, culture and community are central. The fund supports initiatives in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom that contribute to awareness, resilience and connection – as a follow-up to the apologies of the Dutch State in 2022 for its role in the slavery past.
Description of grant opportunities
The Subsidy Scheme Social Initiatives Slavery Past supports initiatives that contribute to awareness, processing and recognition of the slavery past. It thus contributes to healing and connection within the communities on the six Caribbean islands. Each island receives an equal share of the budget, regardless of size or population. Organisations can apply for a subsidy for a variety of activities, such as organisational development, the strengthening of resilience against discrimination and racism, and the promotion of dialogue on the slavery past. The scheme is an initiative of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) and is implemented by Implementation of Policy (UVB), part of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (SZW).
