DESCRIPTION

Can you recognize sporting talent, and if so, from what age? What does the pathway of a young athlete look like and how can we best support them at each stage of their development? Just as important is: what should we avoid doing along the way?

Led by MSc Mark de Niet, Lecturer & Researcher at HAN University of Applied Sciences, this interactive workshop explores how to identify and nurture talent across sports. Participants will gain theoretical insights and practical tools to apply directly in their coaching, teaching, and sports development practice.

Through dialogue and exchange amongst coaches, trainers, sports administrators, PE teachers and community sports professionals, the workshop encourages new perspectives and collaboration, supporting a stronger, evidence-based approach to youth sports development on Sint Maarten.

LEARNING OUTCOMES (COMPETENCIES)

At the end of this workshop, participants will have gained:

  • New insights into talent identification and athlete development pathways
  • Knowledge of practical frameworks and methods to apply in daily practice
  • Opportunities to network and collaborate across the sports and education sectors
